RUDE, CRUDE AND LEWD SIGNS

My life since cancer interrupted my good health has been up and down. Although I feel pretty good these days, what I seem to really lack is energy. It's as if my fake Superman suit became totally deflated and I hardly need the cape - a stiff breeze could lift me up and blow me away.  Much of the time, instead of pounding nails and sawing up lumber to build a barn, a studio or renovate our old 100 year old house, I'm now pulling nails out of old barn wood and used lumber to produce signs.  I have a commonality with the wood because it's old, which I am, it's seen better days, which I have and it's stressed, which I am.  The wood grain reminds me of my wrinkled face and it looks as faded as I feel. Also, I know what it's like to feel hammered - nothing like a good drink or more and a fist took out my front teeth when I was a young man. Being a sign painter and artist of sorts, I still like the feel of a brush in my hands so sometimes I letter signs and then I'll paint pictures.  The signs I've posted remind me of myself, except for the truck.  I never learned how to drive a car or a truck, but motorcycles - there's nothing like the feel of roaring down the highway, hair blowing in the breeze, chewing on a mouthful of bugs and taking a turn so tightly, the foot peg shoots a rooster-tail of sparks behind you and oh yeah, almost forgot, the screaming woman, her big boobs crushed against my back while she was hanging onto me for dear life. Good memories. At this age, as I shuffle down the road, the sun almost completely out of sight as it dips below the horizon, I keep the cheeks of my ass clenched tight because when I fart, I never know if it's just smelly gas or a gush of liquid - at this time in my life, a good sense of humour is about all that's left in worn out old Lenny - cheers, eh!
